iPod.

this is a stupid thing to start off the totally the best thing ever blog with. which is exactly why i did it. sure i could have started with a truly better best thing ever. like say "respiration" or "the earth"... but in all honesty... i think the iPod has a greater chance of affecting popular culture than either of those things... combined.

and no one would get in a hissy about the first post being about say 'air'... whereas 'iPod' will get a bunch of [imaginary] people yipping and yapping about how "the iPod sucks cause it has no integrated shortwave radio." or "the iPod sucks cause the iRiver YT-4230N has a built-in CB and costs $70 less and combs my hair for me."

so that is why i did it.

i actually thought the iPod was a total rip-off when the first generation came out. i said 'maybe if it was 10GB i'd pay that...'

and then the 10GB came out ... so i WAS FORCED to buy it as not to be a hypocrite.

has 2 key things :

1) very high nerdosity... not one but *two* model Star Trek ships.
2) if you look *really* close... the guy is playing REO Speedwagon. RADICAL.

and NOTHING says 'i'm hip. i'm cutting edge.' like REO Speedwagon. NOTHING.
